ABOUT DEER DOJO

Encouragement to Ascend

At Deer Dojo we teach Kojosho Kemp style karate classes for ages 4 through adult. All of our instructors and assistants are passionate about teaching and encouraging you to achieve your very best on and off the mat.

Karate 1
ages 4-5 years

In our karate 1 classes we don't just teach karate. We encourage our students to learn confidence and body awareness through fun games and drills. We work on skills like balance and learning left from right. This is a great foundation class to start kids on their martial arts journey.

Karate 2
ages 6-7 years

In our karate 2 class students begin learning more karate techniques. They also begin learning their first karate form. However, we still spend a good portion of the class learning through games and fun drills. We want kids learning dedication and confidence, and we want them to have fun doing it.

Karate 3
ages 8-10

In our karate 3 class we want kids to begin to be more focused and aware. We expect them to begin doing their karate techniques correctly. They learn a new karate from and some self-defense. We encourage students to have the confidence to protect themselves and the self control to not bully others.

Karate 4
ages 11-12

In our karate 4 class we encourage our students not to just do well on the mat, but off the mat in their day to day lives as well. We focus on self discipline and developing good ethics. They are expected to begin refining their karate techniques and karate forms. We teach them more self defense techniques and appropriate ways of using them.

Teen & Adult
age 13-adult

At Deer Dojo our mission statement is "Encouragement to ascend." To us this means helping each of our students to be the best they can be, on and off the mat. We help students gain confidence and develop discipline through martial arts training. Perfection is not the goal, but rather always being better than you were the day before. There are the 9 warrior virtues we focus on to encourage our students to be contributing members of society. Those virtues are  courage, discipline, knowledge, courtesy, wisdom, humanity, honor, trust, and loyalty.
